Causes of Head and Neck Disorders

Since there are many varying causes of head and neck disorders and diseases, your physician will work closely with you to provide a fast and accurate diagnosis using the latest technology.

Signs of a Head and Neck Disorder

There are some signs that you should watch out for that might indicate a head and neck problem.

For example, if you have a lump in your neck, voice changes, a sore in the mouth, bleeding in the mouth, problems swallowing, or a constant earache, don’t ignore these symptoms. These could be a sign of a head and neck cancer or something else.  Get them checked out.  Make an appointment to see an otolaryngologist (ear, nose, and throat doctor) for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Diagnosing and Treating Head and Neck Disorders

Correct diagnosis and treatment of head and neck disorders is a complex process that requires a diverse team of specialists. In working with other surgeons, endocrinologists, pathologists, and radiologists, we provide the best clinical management (evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment) of your head and neck condition.

Comprehensive diagnostic services for head and neck tumors, for instance, may include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), endoscopy, and laryngeal videostroboscopy. A biopsy may also be required for a definitive diagnosis.

While treatment options vary depending on the cause of the condition, conservative therapies, such as medications, are usually the first line of treatment. If they do not produce successful outcomes, other treatments such as surgical interventions are explored.
